Social ValuesIn the Victorian Era the class system was very prominent in society. Women and children were always expected to listen to the "man" of the family and were also always expected to be polite and modest. Men were expected to be gentlemen at all times and always provide for their wife and kids. The people of the victorian era never talked about topics that were said to be crude and they punished crime survey. Rich women were only supposed to keep the household running where as poor women were expected to work in factories, governess, or even as prostitutes and also take care of the family. Children were seen as less important persons and were to be raised very strictly. They also had to work long hours and do dirty jobs for their family. What was expected of the people of the Victorian Era was very different than what is expected of us now.

Immigration
In the Victorian Era Canada had a very desirable way of living. Social and Economical customs in other countries were pushing people into Canada. Canada had immigrants coming from all over the world but mostly Europe. The Canadian government saw the United States taking over the sparsely populated west coast as a big threat so they advertised Canada as being a free place to live with lots of work to populate the west coast.
